Chartered Accountancy (CA) is a professional course in accounting that equips you to deal with areas of Accountancy, Auditing, Cost Consultancy, Taxation, Legal Matters and Management Consultancy. The course involves a blend of theoretical education and practical training which run concurrently for a period of three years and equips a student with knowledge, ability, skills and other qualities required for a professional accountant.
2. Who can study Chartered Accountancy?
Students who have passed/appeared in final year of +2 examinations from any stream can join Chartered Accountancy starting from CAP-I/ CPT under ICAN / ICAI.
3. What are governing bodies of CA Studies?
Prospective students with the said criteria can register through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) /the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to pursue the CA Studies.
4. What is ICAN?
ICAN stands for The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal, an autonomous body established under Chartered Accountants Act, 1997, enacted by parliament of Nepal to regulate CA profession in Nepal.
5. What is ICAI?
ICAI stands for The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, an autonomous established under Chartered Accountants Act, 1949, enacted by parliament of India to regulate CA profession in India.
6. Which board is more preferable, ICAN or ICAI?
Well, it depends on the personal interest and scope of career opportunities. Students are advised to join ICAN who wish to complete CA studies in their home ground and claim the opportunities, whereas students who choose ICAI board are best recommended to pursue their final level studies in India for more exposures. However, CPT and IPCC can be studied in Nepal.
7. Why CPT & IPCC in Nepal?
As India is an expansive market for CA Studies with bigger crowd and larger volume of students in the class. Whereas studying in Nepal for CPT/ IPCC students can gain intensive personal cares, frequent model test and conducive study environment to the beginners. However, in the final level students are advised to study in any state of India.
8. Which University imparting CA education?
No university in the world imparts CA education; every country has its autonomous body established under the Act of Parliament, like The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) for Nepal and The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for India. Students have got registered with the Board to pursue study.
9. What are the eligibility criteria to study Chartered Accountancy?

11. What is articleship?
A student is required to undergo about 3 years of practical training known as articleship. The Chartered Accountancy course, thus, involves a unique blend of compulsory theoretical education and practical training, which runs concurrently for a period of 3 years. Theoretical knowledge is integrated and reinforced with practical training. The practical training of 3 years should be done after the completion of CAP-II/IPCC under ICAN/ICAI.

13. What are the dates of registration for Chartered Accountancy Course?
Registration is open throughout the year to eligible students. However as the examinations are held in June and December under ICAN and June & December for CPT and May & November for IPCC & Final level under ICAI. Registration Calender and necessary assistance is available at CCMA office.
14. Is it really hard to study Chartered Accountancy as is generally understood?
As the saying says, "Nothing is possible for those, who do nothing" Chartered Accountancy education requires in depth dedication and regular labour with genuine effort for the successful completion of the course.
15. Where are the examinations held?
Under ICAN, the examination centre will be inside the Kathmandu valley as directed by ICAN. However the examination under ICAI will be as per the provision of Board.
16. Is there any restriction in number of attempts?
Under ICAN, for CAP-I and CAP-II students can attempt up to 10 consecutive times and under ICAI for CPT and IPCC students can also attempt up to 10 consecutive times. For CA Final level there is no restriction in number of attempts under ICAN and ICAI.
17. Is it possible to study College programs while studying CA?
Yes, it is quite possible as well as a need for CA professionals to gain more market opportunities and exposures. However, Students are advised to join BBS program in any colleges.
18. What is the recognition of CA course?
Chartered Accountancy is an academic as well as professional education course and the CAs produced under ICAN and ICAI are globally recognized.
